Three medical facilities are near Hickory Nut Forest: Mission Hospitals in Asheville (25 minutes), Veterans Administration in Asheville (25 minutes), and Pardee Hospital in Fletcher (25 minutes).

Dues are assessed for the maintenance and upkeep of the roads and common areas.

Property Specifications

Hickory Nut Forest consists of 17 lots on 26 acres of mature hardwood forest. Special care is taken to maintain a low density of buildings to forest, keeping with the integrity of the natural surroundings and privacy of the owners.

Recreation

Activities in Western North Carolina include camping, hiking, fishing, rafting, golf, and family-oriented activities. Some of the local attractions are Hickory Nut Gorge State Park, Florence Preserve, Lake Lure, Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake James, Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, Biltmore Estates & Winery, The Grove Park Inn, Pisgah National Forest, Linville Gorge, and Smoky Mountain National Park.

Schools

Edneyville Elementary School, Apple Valley Middle School and North Henderson High School. There are many post-secondary schools in the area, with UNC-Asheville being the largest. Students may attend Buncombe County schools upon payment of additional tuition.

Shopping

Basic needs can be met in Fairview, just 10 minutes away. Black Mountain, Asheville, and Hendersonville offer "big city" amenities within a 25-minute drive.

Henderson County - currently about 60 cents per $100 of the assessed tax value.

Utilities & Water

Utilities (electric and telephone) will be underground along the roadways. Electricity is provided by Duke Power. Property owners provide their own well and septic systems. Weekly trash pickup can be arranged with a local company by each property owner.

Weather

There are four distinct seasons: winter is generally mild; spring is full of blooming flowers; summer is enjoyably pleasant; and fall brings a brilliant explosion of colors.
